Master Class by Visiting Russian Artists for Indian and Russian Children 

On October 20, 2018, the day before the 114th anniversary of Svetoslav Roerich, a master class in art was organised by Natalia Pivavorova, President, Dostoyaniye Foundation, and conducted by Natalia Melnikova, Teacher of the Highest Category, Art School, Mga, Leningrad Region (Russia) nearby Green Theatre. The students from the Helena Roerich Academy of Arts for Children and the artistes from the Children’s Choreographic Ensemble-Studio ‘Otrada’ (Chita city, Russia) took part in the master class.

The organizers and participants of the workshop were so engrossed in the task that they did not notice how two hours lapsed. During the master class many visitors to the IRMT were curious to know more about it and expressed their appreciation of this initiative by the visiting Russian art teachers.

The children were divided into three groups. Two groups were taught how to make a picture of butterfly out of seven elements. They were also taught the use of ruler and its role in drawing. Each and every student got a chance to learn the techniques they were imparted. The third group was led by Mr. Alexey Melnikov, Honoured Worker of Culture of the Russian Federation; Director, Art School, Mga, Leningrad Region (Russia). The members of that group were provided with modelling clay and taught how to make a figure of elephant. This was done in a play way.
